Antique and contemporary designs combine in the Hotel Larius, a renovated mill located in the suburbs of Como, one kilometre from the town's historic centre. Simple white décor is enhanced by oak roof beams in the 21 guestrooms, all of which feature cable television, Internet connections, multi line phones, minibars and complimentary toiletries. The informal candlelit restaurant takes its name from Como's celebrated 15th century chef, Mastro Martino, whose recipes continue to inspire house specialities, such as homemade Pappardelle Sautéed with Foie Gras and Mushrooms, and Fish Tortellini with Wild Thyme. Elsewhere, guests can unwind in the spa zone comprising of a fitness centre, sauna and herbal steam bath, or enjoy a drink in the private parlour room or on the outdoor terrace. Guests arriving by car benefit from complimentary parking. Como's old town is one kilometre away, where sights, such as the cathedral and Palazzo del Broletto on Duomo Square, are well worth a visit. Further afield, Swissminiatur, a theme park with scale models depicting Switzerland's history, is 20 kilometres away from the hotel, while Milan lies 40 kilometres away. The Milan Malpensa airport is 45 kilometres from the hotel. Guests can hop rides on the airport train shuttle to Como Nord Borghi Railway Station and complete the remaining 500 metres on foot. Alternatively, a taxi to the hotel will cost approximately 90 Euros.
